The Kork pushes the limits of the small-boat category with respect to flotation and performance hauling half-ton loads.
This 42-lb raft paddles and performs like the PR49 but with added weight allowances and tougher skin It’s weight is very attractive for Alaska’s logistical challenges. Flying commercial with this boat package is a snap as checked baggage.
The bulbous ends on the Kork maximize weight hauling capacity by increasing the boat’s waterline (the mass volume of surface area touching the water coupled with the size of the tubes determines how much weight a boat will hold and how deep it sits in water). The skin thickness determines how well it responds to impacts under heavy loads.
