I am thankful to the many fans who loyally use TAG Bag game bags. They would tell you it’s for a good reason.

Technologically Advanced Game Bags (TAG Bags) is the brand I developed decades ago that was first to use a synthetic material to replace cotton game bags for the hunting industry. Cotton game bags have been around for over a century, mainly because cotton is widely available and inexpensive to produce. It’s also easy to sew, and provides a durable fabric that serves as an absorbent sponge when meat surfaces are moist. This helps foster the “keep meat dry” rule for meat care, but there is a better option.

TAG Bag game bagsThe Original Nylon Game Bag

I introduced nylon as an alternative over 20 years ago when I developed TAG Bag game bags. I chose nylon primarily for its quick-drying properties and superiority over cotton.  Nylon is 5 times lighter than cotton and dries exponentially faster, plus it makes game bags washable in the field and durable enough to reuse for many years. We love the sustainability of that. The downside of nylon is cost.

Costs of Nylon Vs. Cotton

Interesting fact, cotton production is linked to the oil industry indirectly through the machinery used for farming and cultivation, but nylon is actually derived by the oil industry so its cost is directly linked to the price per barrel of crude oil.

To make one 28” X 60” TAG Bag game bags requires approximately 2 yards of material. Two yards of cotton fabric would cost $2.50, but two yards of nylon costs $11.00.  That’s my cost just for the material for one bag. That material then has to be sewn into game bags with cord locks, flat cordage and labels and then added to make a complete set of six bags plus a stuff sack. After it all shakes out through production into your hands, one set of six bags (28” X 60”) costs my company $74 to produce as of March 2025. Before March 2020 that same set cost me $38.00 to produce.

Material Blends

Competitor brands choose “synthetic blends” for their versions. Synthetic blends are typically polyester and cotton blends and are generally chosen for some of the benefits of nylon and some of the benefits of cotton. Synthetic blends are often 50% less expensive compared to 100% nylon fabric, but still there’s a better option.

TAG Bag game bagsWhy choose 100% Nylon?

I innovated the use of 100% nylon after participating in scientific studies that examined spoilage bacteria in relation to its protective barrier— specifically cotton, synthetic blends, and nylon material.  I measured how fast each fabric dried, what each weighed, and how bacteria levels present and develop on each fabric sample. Nylon was the clear choice decided by science.

It pains me to have recently raised prices. I must if this best option product is to be available to hunters. The truth is they are still underpriced based on 25 years of small business ownership, but I’ll keep them as low as I can for you. You buy the best game bags on the market and can trust I’ll still be in service many years from now. TAG Bags game bags are the toughest, lightest and quickest to dry on the market. That’s my pledge.
